VIS 103AContemporary Arts in South Korea
The course examines the theories and practices of contemporary art in South Korea. Highlighting the work of representative artists, we consider the role of the arts in modernization, the emergence of alternative arts spaces that promote the decentralization of cultural programs, and how governmental and corporate sponsorship has supported the national and global presence of South Korean art.
