COMM 185Communication for Indigenous Justice

4 units · COMM · UC San Diego

The course provides students the opportunity to learn from indigenous scholarship, activism, and art. It introduces students to indigenous justice issues such as knowledge production, environmental stewardship, cultural appropriation, and stereotyped representations—all within the contexts of settler colonialism and indigenous resistance and survival. It gives students tools to examine those issues from communication and media studies perspectives and to explore ways to promote indigenous justice.
