This course exposes students to the fundamentals of homelessness while incorporating fieldwork in cities across the United States. Students will explore and disseminate roles such as: environmental living, proper hydration, nutrition, stress management, personal hygiene, dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and the fear of sexual abuse. Enrolled undergraduates will identify health and wellness components that directly reflect on the physical, psychological and social dimensions of living and surviving in a homeless setting. Students will apply their hands-on experiences and integrate course content with collective insight in order to provide support and creativity during assessments, triage rounds and group roundtable meetings.
